3 Day Gorilla Tracking & Golden Monkeys-Rwanda

Track Golden Monkeys, mountain gorillas & visit Kigali Genocide Memorial a final resting place for over 250,000 victims of the Rwanda Genocide


DAY 1 : Kigali city tour – transfer to the volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
Our safari guide will meet you at Kigali international Airport, brief you shortly about your safari and then drive north of Rwanda to volcanoes National Park viewing spectacular scenery of the virunga mountains. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

DAY 2 : Gorilla tracking including a visit the beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Buhondo
You’ll have an early breakfast and head to Rwanda’s volcanoes National Park head quarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts while with on your gorilla trekking tour. You’ll then enter the bamboo forest on your quest for the mountain gorillas on a tour which ranges between 2-6 hours depending on their movement and weather of course. You will then return to the lodge for late lunch and take a community walk or visit the beautiful twin lakes; Burera and Ruhondo.

DAY 3 : Golden monkey tracking & visit Gisozi genocide memorial center
After breakfast, we shall have briefing and then go to track the golden monkeys in the bamboo forest. The golden monkey (Cercopithecus kandti) is a species of Old World monkey found in the Volcanoes national park, in north-west Rwanda; and Virunga and Kahuzi-Biéga, in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It is restricted to highland forest, especially near bamboo. The golden monkey in Rwanda lives in social groups of up to 30 individuals with a diet that mainly consists of bamboo, leaves and fruit, though it is also thought to eat insects. If time permits we shall head to Kigali to briefly visit Gisozi genocide memorial. The Kigali Genocide Memorial is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Rwanda Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. This site honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building.

We will then transfer to the Airport for your flight back home.
