8-Day Mountain Gorilla & Wildlife Safari

This 8-day Uganda adventure safari takes you deep into the heart of Africa’s rich wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Meet mountain gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitat, encounter diverse wildlife, and explore lush forests, vast savannahs, and cultural landmarks.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Welcome to Uganda!

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative will be there to warmly welcome you and facilitate your transfer to the hotel. Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey to Kibale Forest National Park, passing through Hoima and Fort Portal. The drive takes you through verdant countryside, traditional villages, and tea plantations before arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

After an early breakfast, transfer to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking. The forest is home to 13 primate species, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Spend time observing chimpanzees as they swing through the trees, groom each other, and communicate with loud calls.

After lunch, you have an optional Bigodi Swamp Walk (at an extra fee of $45 per person), a sanctuary with over 200 bird species, butterflies, and primates. Look out for the great blue turaco and the papyrus gonolek, among other species.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the Rwenzori Mountain Range. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch, then set off for an evening game drive, where you may spot elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and hyenas.

Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel

Start your day with an early morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, home to lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, and giant forest hogs.

In the afternoon, take a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a wildlife haven with the largest concentration of hippos in Africa, basking crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. This is a paradise for wildlife photographers and birdwatchers.

Day 6: Tree-Climbing Lions & Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast, drive through Ishasha Plains, famous for tree-climbing lions—a unique behavior only observed in a few places in Africa. Stop for wildlife viewing before heading toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Upon arrival, enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Mutanda, offering spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

After an early morning briefing, set off into the dense rainforest of Bwindi for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience. Follow experienced rangers in search of a habituated gorilla family, watching them eat, play, and interact in their natural habitat.

After the trek, you may opt for an afternoon nature walk or a visit to the Batwa Pygmy community to experience their unique culture.

For those wanting a deeper gorilla experience, Gorilla Habituation is available at a supplement of $900 per person, allowing you to spend extended time with gorillas in their habitat.

Day 8: Return to Entebbe – Departure Flight

After breakfast, begin your scenic drive back to Entebbe, stopping at the Uganda Equator for photos and a cultural experience. Visit the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers, where traditional drums are crafted using centuries-old techniques. Arrive in Entebbe in the afternoon, where you will be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight.
